Lazy solicitor is already starting to irritate me!

Since my old solicitor left the partner took over this Tuesday, he's been telling me that consent mortgage form which my bf signed must be witnessed by a solicitor which will cost me about £200 even though his colleague said fine for independent non solicitor to witness, so on Tuesday I spoke with halifax who apparently insisted on solicitor witnessing bf sign consent mortgage form but turns out whilst it's preferred a solicitor witnesses bf sign form it's not essential and any independent can witness!

So yesterday I called the partner first thing to tell him this but he said he wanted it in writing from lender so after couple of attempts him trying to call halifax he didn't manage to get through to mortgage processing and asked if I could try calling which I ended up doing and was waiting nearly an hour on phone when I finally got through to someone only to be told that as my solicitor is requesting this he must contact them directly.

So I passed message onto solicitor as he e,ails later today saying that he still isn't getting through and has in a nutshell told me that bf should get consent form signed by solicitor! Even though unnecessary per my lender so I've told him to try calling them again. This partner is absolute useless!

If it wasn't for the fact I've signed all paperwork and pending to exchange I'd have left but I'm just shocked that he is getting me to do his job!

What else can I do?
