Streaming video capture

Hi folks. Can anybody please advise me of any decent free software that will allow you to capture streaming video from different sights. I have tried the add on extension for firefox, but I couldn't get it to work with some sites.
I have also tried searching this forum, but I can't find anything.
Any suggestions would be greatly welcome, cheers

First use IE to watch the video as IE stores the FLV file (common streaming video format) in the temporary internet file directory as a separate file (Firefox caches them all together).

Use Tools->Internet options -> General Tab-> Browsing History -> Settings-> view files to locate the temporary directory. The recent big FLV file is the one you want. Copy the file to another location then use a converter such as 'Super' to convert to other format as required or download a stand alone FLV player if you just want to keep the video. Note I am just copying a file on my computer here.

I do it this way as Firefox downloaders such as VideoDowloader seem to need to download the file twice (once to view it and the other to download it unless you are very quick) and I am on a limited download package, HTH.

Camtasia Studio is one of the Best Softwear I have on my Dell. I use it to Capture & Edit Vids.

I have a Program that Converts YouTube vids to AVI or MPEG just by Pasting the YouTube Address into the Program & it wil Download, Convert & Save the Video in 1 Go... Very Easy & Fast.

The Streaming Vids from www.musicbrigade.com I've replied to your Other Thread on the SAME subject ;)
  • I use this site http://keepvid.com/

you paste the link to the video you want, and it will let you save it to your disk as a .flv file.

    then I use VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Which can play practically ANY music/movie file ever including flv.

Its worth getting VLC regardless as it can play pretty much any format and its a small application, really simple and won't try to connect to the internet like WMP / RealPlayer etc.

    I use Ashampoo Clipfinder which was/is (?) a free full-version download here: http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?session_langid=2&idstring=0055

It uses the .flv format , so I also use the free VLC media player to watch the clips.

@ Sobraon: that's an interesting solution....will have to test it out.:D
