I've made a claim for ppi mis-selling to barclaycard, and have just heard that my claim has been rejected. I'm thinking about taking it further to the FoS. Has anyone got any top tips?
The claim was rejected on the following basis:
I had applied for the card online, so at the time of applying, was not given any advice, and made my own decision as to whether I required the policy and whether I benefitted from it.
The policy ran from 10/9/2002 until 21/3/2011, so it is a substantial one.
They go on to add that at the time I was eligible for the policy.
They add "I am satisfied you were provided with enough information to make an informed decision about the purchase of the ppi...you would have been told that ppi was optional.
I have been informed that even though I cannot recall being given information about ppi, that "our investigation has found nothing to support this..."
Do I go straight to the FoS or do I go back to barclaycard with further arguments or put them to proof?
Any tips?

If you applied online, it's almost impossible to argue it was mis-sold since you bought the insurance yourself without the involvement of any bank staff. The notable exception is if you can show there was a pre-ticked box for PPI which you had to actively un-tick to deselect PPI.I'm thinking about taking it further to the FoS. As the accuser, the burden of proof of any wrong doing is upon you, not the Bank.
If you go to FOS, typical referral time is eighteen months.0
