BA flight problem, I need help!

I have just booked a flight for myself with BA from 4th Aug: to 22nd Sept:
At the same time I checked another flight for my DH to join me on 31st Aug: to 22nd Sept: so we could return together.
I suppose with hindsight I should have had 2 windows open at the same time (maybe???).
I booked mine ok and completed the transaction.
When I booked my DH flight straight after mine, it took me all the way to AFTER I had paid and filled in the CC 3D security check, before telling me the flights had sold out! Only its not telling me which one, the going out or returning journey.
So if I try to book other flights for his journey, I won't actually know if they are available untill after I have paid, which doesn't make sense to me.
Also we wanted to return home together, the only reason I was booking with them in the first place!
Now I have my dates booked and no idea when he can fly...............personally I smell a rat here............
Do you think its because I used the same email address? Is there a way around this does anyone know? Should I just use a different email addy? will the site let me book it tomorrow?
I think its ages away so there should be availability.
I'll ring them tomorrow but have dealt with ther CS before now and they are appalling to say the least.
Any help or advise needed. Thanks in advance
LL

    Thankyou soooooooooooooo much richardw.
I have just booked the whole journey on the same BA flight with no problem and only £5 more.
When it says 'check this flight for seats available' there are loads.
So BA were in fact doing a 'naughty'
I would have called them tomorrow and probably ended up paying for my flight to be changed or worse losing my money altogether.
Thank you again for your help.
I am a real worrier and was in a little panic there.

Firstly, the BA site uses cookies and so will not let you do things with two windows open.

You should have received an email booking confirmation telling you what you have booked. It will include a code: use this code and your surname to enter the 'Manage my booking' section of the BA website and see exactly what you have bought.

Once you know what flights you need for your OH, clear your cookies and make another attempt to book. Even if the flights for your OH are no longer available on the BA BA flights are available through a number of agents: lastminute, opodo, airline-network. You should be aware that these sites charge fees for credit card use, rangling from about 9 pounds at lastminute to a scandalous 14 pounds at airline-network. They do at least pay cashback.

There was probably just a temporary problem with the link from ba.com to the main computer.

Since you have separate bookings for the return flight, it may be worth calling BA nearer the time to have them linked so that their computer knows that you want to sit together on the flight.
This is because if the flight is full the computer automatically allocates seats, if it doesn't know that you are together you may be separated and you may not be able to change them.

We usually book our seats online 24hrs before we fly. Its the only good thing I have to say about BA, being able to manage the whole booking online for your self......................when it works!
