Damages you notice AFTER inventory
We moved into a property about six weeks ago. On the date we moved in they gave us the inventory, which had been completed by them five weeks prior to us moving in, before the apartment was redecorated.
We went through it with a fine tooth comb, and returned it complete with an additional eight pages of notes and photographs.
Since that date, when we cleaned the outer windows of the ground floor flat (which were filthy) we've noticed that there are several scratches in the glass on the inside of the living room and one bedroom window. These weren't obvious before due to the filth on the windows and the weather at the time. Now the windows are clean they are VERY obvious on a sunny day.
Obviously these haven't been caused by us. There are blinds in each window and we haven't meddled with these at all. I've never seen anything quite like it and have no idea how whoever has done it!
Anyway, my question is what would you do? Report this to the letting agent now and explain what I've explained above? Or hope that they don't notice on check out? The condition of the windows is marked as 'good' by them on the inventory, which was completed on a cloudy day so the scratches would not have been obvious.

Just send a letter explaining and keep a copy with the inventory in case they query it when you move out.0

I would imagine no one has a DIFFERENT opinion because the advice is good. Be glad that 304 people agree.0

The other is to do nothing and plead ignorant at check out if it's noticed.
Problem you have is the time elapsed since the inventory saying the windows were good, the evidence is with them and against you.0 -
Take good quality dated photos and email to agent and Landlord
Point out that you have only now had time to clean the Windows and notice the damage/ scratches on the glass.
Sent a letter to LA/LL to back up email with proof of posting and keep copy0 -
If you really want another opinion... make the windows dirty before you move out so the scratches aren't visible. You only have to return the property in the condition in which you found it (allowing for reasonable wear and tear).0
