Marriage and credit rating

Hi
My friend is getting married next month. His credit file is really bad, but his fiancee has excellent history and very good score.
We've had a chat about mortgage in future and I told him that joint account can ruin her credit rating because of his bad history. But what is going to happen if they'll keep separate accounts but she'll change surname after getting married? Will credit agencies link them anyway?

Marriage does not link files, only joint credit products do.0

His fiancee doesn't have a very good score unless he's talking about snooker or darts as credit scores/ratings do not exist. See the top sticky thread in this forum or my signature for more info.
