Just check my bank account only to find my monthly withdrawal has gone from £204 to £283!!!!!

Signed into my Npower account only to find they reviewed my account & all of a sudden without using any extra supplies by bills gone up this much.

I was almost £400 in credit now only £40odd how is that even possible?

I can't afford to carry on like that with a family of 5 in our house.

Has anyone had this problem? There always hopeless to deal with as well.

Please help.

Karen

Look through you most recent bills and see what meter reading they have used and is it accurate.

Normally this happens when the energy provider discovers that a customer has been using more energy than the monthly DD covers, and adjusts the payments to recover the difference.

As above and check your meter readings now and over the next few weeks .

We have decided to not pay by direct debit, after still waiting for £600 from NPower, after we switched from them last year. We will now always owe them money and will make sure they have to wait for our correct meter readings. It may cost us a bit more but stops the company continually reviewing our monthly payment upwards, and we will never be in credit with them.
  • As above x2

They will only re-assess your DD based upon your meter reads.

They use your annual consumption (how many units used in a year) to provide an annual cost, then divide this by 12 to get your monthly installment rate.

Look at your most recent bill to see if they have got a reading from the meter reader recently, or have you provided one after a long time of estimates being used?

You can ask them to re-assess your DD installments if you call them with up to date meter readings to bill your account first. This will make the annual usage more accurate.
