Are there any savings accounts without online banking?

I am new to this and hope I am doing the right thing. I have just discovered that my elderly mother has over £80,000 in her current account. She has savings with Nationwide up to the £85,000 safe limit and now needs to invest at least £40,000 in a savings account of some sort. All I can find require her to apply online. She will not contemplate internet banking. What can we do?

There are plenty of accounts that can be operated in branch, by phone or by post. The trouble is the rates on offer tend to be far from the best.
Try the site below. Select "More" then "Advanced Search" and search for accounts that meet your Mum's requirements.

Of course with branch accounts it depends what organisations your mother will be able to easily reach.0 -
She will not contemplate internet banking.
I get this with my parents too. Nothing will convince them otherwise. When I drilled down, their fears were a mixture of a) them hitting the wrong buttons or b) someone sneaking in and stealing their money.
Offers of help to set it all up and show them what to do, and even mentions of the higher rates available online (and crucially what that would equate to in £s) failed to get a response.
It's not even as if the non-online version is less hassle - quite the reverse I'd say.

You might consider the Coventry Building Society PostSave account paying 1.4% variable. This can be opened by phone or in branch and then operated by post.
Although your mother won't consider an account that has to be operated online perhaps she would consider letting you help her to open one online provided it could then be operated by post. For example the Kent Reliance has a good rate for a 2 year bond. You have to apply online (unless you are close to a branch) but then when it's time to withdraw the funds this can be done without using the Internet.0 -

Baffling.
Oh no, not baffling at all; as I approach that age, I understand more and more my own parent's seemingly baffling behaviour.0 -
Chelsea Building Society has a 1 yr Bond paying 2%, which can be opened in Branch (if you have one near you of course).

Also from Chelsea's parent, Yorkshire Building Society.

Funnily enough I was demonstrating online banking to my dad last night (he's "only" 68). Horses for courses. It's a good thing we're both with a bank with excellent customer service over the phone.0

The Chelsea BS / Yorkshire BS 2% 1-year bonds are no longer listed on the web sites.0
