rotten roof joists replacement

hi we were having our ceiling replaced but the plasterer has told us the joists are too rotten for them to work with and we need to get someone in to fix them.
we've only managed to get one guy in so far who has quoted £4k to do it we live in a fairly small 2 up 2 down and this would be for the main bedroom. it's a butterflly roof- the joists on one half seem ok but the builder thinks all need to be replaced - he says he would do the plasterers work for this i.e tear down ceiling and replaster . i think there are about 4 joists on either side of the butterfly. most of the wood in the roof is old rubbish (it's brighton just by way of explanation)
is the price - 4k reasonable? we'd have to get credit to do it but i guess we need to do something. and which trades should i be looking for quotes from - is it plastering, building, loft renovation, carpentry or roofing? does someons say on checkatrade who does "truss roofing" do this work?

It's a builder's job. Truss roofing is completely irrelevant to you. It is not roofing.
You need more quotes.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
