Miele Vaccum Cleaner - worth buying the extended warranty?

Hi all,
Standard disclaimer: Not sure if it's in the right place, sorry BG's if not!
With the looming EU directive limiting the power of vacuum cleaners, I bought myself a mighty 2200W Miele vacuum cleaner earlier this week (the S8320 model, specifically).
It comes with a 2 years parts and labour warranty, but they offer a 10 year version for £50. I'm wondering if it's worth investing in. Are Miele vacuums known for lasting a long time, or would this be a wise investment? The vacuum cost me £210, so it's almost a quarter of the cost again.

The only other concern is that if it does break down in a few years, and need replacing, I think they'll legally have to replace it with a lower-powered model, although that's no different to if I went and bought a new one anyway.
So I guess the real question is what is the reliability of these vacuums like?
Cheers

I think you'll not get a true picture from the small sample likely to report here.
I have a Miele vacuum which didn't make it past about 6 years before going wrong, though it still runs with reduced suction. I just use it to pick up sawdust in my workshop now.
If the damn things were easier to get into, I could probably by pass the potentiometer and get full power, but we have 2 other vacuum cleaners, so I haven't bothered.
The washing machine is a happier story.0 -
We have 3 of these indoors. After abut 10 years "She" who decides these matters advises that she is fed up with the old Miele and we will get a new one. Never anything wrong with the old one which usually gets demoted to shed duties or passed on . Motor brushes will wear out eventually but can be replaced as can hoses and accessories. Certainly beats anything else on the market for durability. You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

I bought the same offer when I got my Cat and Dog for £30 which I guess was just a good deal at the time. It's a brilliant brilliant hoover and to know we'll have it for another 8+ years plus most likely a lot longer is a nice feeling. Prior to this we got through Bosches for fun!0

Never had a Miele vacuum but I like certainty so I would get it covered.
That said, I have my original Henry who is nearly 30 and he still works.0 -
I had one for years and never had a problems with it, as it was a cylinder one and I had moved into a flat I gave it to a neighbour as I wanted an upright. As far as I know she still uses it. I had the pet one.0

My first Miele is over 20 years old and still sucks like new. Have given it to my dog owning daughter who uses it each day. I got a lighter weight Miele for myself.0

We've had 2.
We inherited an old one off the in-laws, abused it for several years and gave it back to them - they're now abusing it as their 'outdoor'/garage/car vacuum cleaner, but it is still going strong (must be 9-10 years + old).
We liked it so much we bought a new one and it is going strong (~5 years old now i think)0
