Purizon dog food - any thoughts?

Options
Hiya,

I was sent a small packet of Purizon dog food with my last Zooplus order.

Just had a look at it on zooplus and the content looks good but I am rubbish comparing things re content/nutrition.

Has anyone compared Orijen Fish and Purizon Fish?

Purizon is quite a few £££ cheaper than Orijen so wondering....

Purizon:

Orijen:

Can not even find details about ingridients under Purizon... hmmm

Yes, that is what I pay for Orijen as I get it from Zooplus....

Ah well.... I pay almost £130 per month for Fred's k/d food and Fred is a 6kg of a CAT

BUT - we have them, we do what we can best for them and whatever we can afford at given time...

Price per bag isn't everything though - if the feeding guidelines on the Allaboutdogfood website are correct (even using the Zooplus prices), Orijen works out the cheaper food as you have to feed more Purizon.

I have not seen Orijen cheaper anywhere else, considering it is free delivery.

For a while Zara was on 1 pouch of Burns (moist) and 160 gram of Orijen per day (worked out by the calories intake calculator that I now lost a link to - anyone has the link please?)

But I do not feel Burns really agrees with Zara so now when I finish the stash of pouches, she will be back on Orijen Fish alone.

I only mixed it with Burns for some "moist variety" but frankly she is not keen on Burns moist at all.

    I'm bored so ;).....

Using the Allaboutdogfood feed guides for a 30-40kg dog & Zooplus prices.

A bag of Orijen @ £77.90 for 13kg will last for 50 days if the recommended amount of 260g per day is correct.

A bag of Purizon @ £49.90 for 13.5kg will last for 31.7 days if the recommended amount of 425g per day is correct.

To feed Purizon for the same 50 days as Orijen would cost £78.16...

So you are correct, Orijen is cheaper by 26p but only if these amounts are strictly adhered too. Using the "that looks about right" method, who knows?

Given Orijens undoubted quality & the fact that it suits the OPs dog, I can't see any reason to change.

    Just to add..

Doing the same calculation using Millies Wolfheart Salmon & veg works out @ £63.24

Paradigm - thanks for the calculations.

By the end of the week I am so shattered that I do not know how I am going to last another week....

Love my job, absolutely love my current contract - great place/lovely people - but the commute is absolutely killing me...

What would I ever do with all the lovely helpful people on here?

    xxx

Have a great weekend everyone :)
