I've been buying Glyphosphate from Wilkinsons - put it in a sprayer at 1 1/2 times the strength & it killed ivy & bindweed in a few weeks. Enough for me to be able to tackle the ground. I just resprayed when any bindweed bits emerged & it seems to have done the trick
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Much cheaper and a lot more eco-friendly i use salt. 1kg of salt makes 3 watering cans full. Or you can use vinegar. Both work.

I can vouch for rosate-36. It kills the roots and the foliage of all it comes into contact with.

Dilute 1:10 and wait 28 days. Weeds won't start to look dead until about 3 weeks have passed ( unlike some other weedkillers where leaves can go black after 12 hours).

I have used it to kill grass, dandelions, dock leaves etc.

Brambles and ivy seems to need a second application or a slightly higher concentration.

Vinegar doesn't kill weeds - it browns the leaves so they look dead for a week or so however the roots are not affected and the weeds will come back.

As you say Holgate even with commercial weedkillers you may need multiple applications. Salt & vinegar are no different you'll often need to apply them several times. But then i pay about 60p in Tesco for 1kg of salt so at that rate how does it compare to a shop bought one.

    Almost nonsense, but not quite.

Round up is the trade name Monsanto use for their versions of weedkiller containing the active ingredient, glyphosate.

There is now no reason for other manufacturers to pay royalties on that chemical, so they can make generic versions and call them what they like.

How are all you folks going to get on after next autumn, when sales of 'professional' weedkillers to the general public are forbidden?
