Claiming ESA and DLA/PIP at college whilst living at home with parents

Hi my son currently attends a special school and is due to transit to mainstream college on a full time course. We currently claim DLA for him which is due to be renewed? with PIP when he is 16 and also claim child benefit and child tax credits. I have been looking at the college information and it details ESA which I have not heard of before. Looking at the website it implies he would be entitled to income related ESA and would not need to attend an interview if he was in receipt of DLA/PIP and full time at college.

Does anyone know if he was entitled to claim this whether child benefit and child tax credits would stop? The website also states the amounts are up to, is this means tested. He does not work obviously and will not be able to as he is not ready for work commitments at present as transiting to college of going to be a massive undertaking.

If he can claim ESA would a grant from college affect this as we have been advised he may qualify for a grant of up to £1200 due to his disability needs.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

This would be income-related ESA, I don't know if they would take his college grant into consideration.

You need to consider whether ESA is more or less than the benefits you get for him.
