Planes, trains and automobiles: How to fight for your rights?

Hello,
I'm a journalist for the Guardian and the Observer and I've been given permission to post on the MSE forums.
I'm writing an article on planes, trains and automobiles - how to complain and fight back against bad/atrocious service.
Am interested in hearing from MSE forum users on unusual or very specific things you have complained about and managed to get money back or compensation.
For example:
- booking a window seat on a train and then finding that it is next to a wall not a window
- getting to the check-in desk on time and finding it's not open for another hour
- booking a five-door hire car and then being told only a three-door is available
I'm also looking for examples of new ways to complain. For example:
- via Twitter
- using an app
- anything else you can think of that is proving effective?
I'm also looking for a case study of someone who has been very successful at getting their complaint resolved with a train, plane or hire car company and how you did this. You'd need to be willing to appear in the Observer with a photo.
Please email me: donna.freelancer+media@gmail.com with your telephone number and a convenient time to call if you would like to take part.
If you want to check I am who I say I am, you can find me tweeting from @DonnaLFerguson https://twitter.com/DonnaLFerguson or read my articles for The Guardian here: http://www.theguardian.com/profile/donna-ferguson
Thanks for your time and I look forward to your responses.
