replacing kitchen sink & tap.

Hi all.
My OH does not like the sink that was in our flat when we bought it.
It is a white " LEISURE" sink , not sure what the material is, but it is plastic -ish. The mixer tap is also white to match sink.
It is hard to keep clean and the tap is looking a bit tatty, I think they would be the originals installed when flats were built around 11 years ago.
However we are happy with the kitchen units and worktop ( iif money was no object we would replace them.. )
So: We want to get a stainless steel sink that fits the existing cut-out in the worktop. Are there standard sizes for sinks,or does it depend on the manufacturer ?
Existing sink is 975mm x 480mm, I am thinking that I may be restricted to choosing from "LEISURE" range of sinks as it may be one of their standard sizes ?? ( I realise that they could have revised their sizes over the years )
Any advice appreciated , Ta

You have answered your own question. The chances of any other make of sink being exactly the same cut-out as your existing one are not very high. Best to start with what you can find in the Leisure catalogue.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Cheers for confirming my initial thoughts :T0

You can get any sixe providing it is AT LEAST the same size as the one you have. If it comes up bigger, the hole needs to be made bigger.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

You could always measure the size of the hole that your sink fits in, ( from inside the cupboard? or once the old one is removed) and then buy a sink that either fits the hole or need a slightly larger hole.
30 mins with a jig saw and you now have the correct size hole, just remember to seal the bare edges of the worktop with varnish so it doesn't swell.0 -
Thanks for further replies :T
I have measured the width of the existing cutout ( from underneath ) at 460mm..
I went on the "LEISURE" website and checked cut-out template details for their current range of sinks, and they were 488mm width minimum.
I havnt checked cut-out length yet as I need to clear under sink stuff out and move washing m/c etc.
Anyway I contacted LEISURE consumer help, and the lady I spoke to was very helpful, she worked out that my current sink was from CONSORT range ( has rounded corners, whereas current range have square corners ) and even gave me the model number.
Bad news is that they stopped making them 4 years ago, but I think there is a small hope that some old stock may be out there somewhere, so I will have to hit the phones !!
I don't really have much room in worktop to enlarge cut-out ( width-ways at least ) hopefully can find one of the old range about.0 -
480mm is a fairly standard size, lots of sinks will fit this width, the one below is 1000mm x 480mm only 25mm bigger. The cut out may actually be the same size.
The included tap may not be the best.
