Shared documents folders not refreshing

I share my PC with my wife, it runs XP Home and we both have our own user accounts. In order to access family photos and documents I have saved them all in Shared Documents.

The problem is if I edit the contents of these folders in any way, adding to or deleting files for instance, that the contents of the folders do not refresh automatically. I can refresh manually with F5 but I don't think I should have to!

Is there a way I can get these files to refresh automatically please? Or would I be better off saving the files in my own documents and creating some kind of share on them so that my wife can access them, and if so how do I do this?

Any advice appreciated.
