I believe that by taking away the free online option, they are hoping more people will enter via the overpriced phone and text options.
It seems their thinking may be along the lines of; People won;t use the post option because it's slow, there's no notification so no certainty whether the entry has been received and they have to pay for a stamp a pack of envelopes and paper/card to put the details on, so because of all of that people will give up on the pretendy free option and use the phone and text options. Money Money Money.
If the above is the case, i think they are in for a surprise.0 -

It only takes a very small percentage to switch from free to paid for the costs to be covered and they almost certainly get that and more.
The number of postal entries will be a tiny tiny fraction of the web entries there used to be - even people who do postal are unlikely to send more than one entry compared to the 6 or more lots did when it was web.
As a bonus for them because the odds have got much better per entry that might even encourage extra paid entries.0 -
... and X Factor has gone aswell.
It looks like that's it for free online entries into ITV competitions..

I think when they noticed some people were entering x5 or x6 per phone number in multiples (i remember someone saying on here say they had 5 or 6 mobile numbers just for this reason) hence the reason of the 29 total rule? and that it was flawed/weighted against people who maybe paid for one entry only and do not have or use the internet route. Can't Smile Without You0

We should make it clear that we only watch their programme for the free online competition. Once viewing figures fall off, they will soon re-introduce it.Thank you all who post.0
