If you are going all that way you might as well go to the Seychelles.0

Its about a 12 hour flight which is a long time for kids to sit still, but most flights now have decent entertainment systems with games, movies, music, cartoons etc, i was there last year and it is beautiful, great beaches and weather, and i'm sure a lot cheaper than Seychelles.0

We've been twice with our eldest when she was 3 and 18 months - I came back with my second. Look at the beachcomber hotels, they are lovely. We would love to go back but it has got much more expensive, and the hotel we've been to in Mexico is about half the price than Shandrani now. We met several other families in Mexico who used to holiday in Mauritius but now find it too expensive compared to what's available elsewhere. The Mauritius tripadvisor forum was a very friendly place, I'm sure they will be helpful with any queries.0

I'm with above posts having been to both Mauritius and Mexico I'd always recommend Mexico as a better option. And as pointed out Mauritius is also a longer flight.0

Thanks everyone for your comments. Will try the trip advisor forum. We did a cruise this year which our son loved, plenty to do and was just trying to get a feel for whether there would be other kids around and much activities.
Thanks

My OH's mum went over for 3 weeks last year, to visit friends she had over there. She used to look after their kids for them when they were working in UK at the local hospital.
She stayed with them and for breakfast every morning, she went to one of their trees and picked a Papaya/Mango off it, washed it and ate it with a spoon, they were so ripe. Then went onto the beach and had a swim.
She said it was paradise, so have a good time.0 -

Most hotels offer free snorkelling and waterskiing, there are generally a nice number of kids from across Europe and South Africa. He'll love it!0
