Thanks, not seen that before.
"the BPA has surely become one of the
most socially dangerous organizations in the UK."
Amen to that. And PoPLA is a creature of "one of the most socially dangerous organizations in the UK." He who sups with the devil should have a long spoon.
P.S. why does Martin use the American spelling of words like "organization" and "penalize"? Disappointing.Je suis Charlie.0 -

Perhaps because these are the spellings favoured by the Oxford English Dictionary although the suffix -ise is perfectly acceptable?P.S. why does Martin use the American spelling of words like "organization" and "penalize"? Disappointing. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

What is acceptable is a matter of opinion, it isn't laid down by the OED. The OED tries to describe how the language is used in practice (however badly), it isn't canonical.
But even in this my gut feel is that the OED is wrong, because I feel that "-ise" is much more prevalent on these shores than "-ize".Je suis Charlie.0 -
Reading Martin's other parking polemics, back to 2012, is also interesting. There, 'criticizes' really grated:-)
However, this is not a 'for want of nail the argument is lost' situ.
Have drawn it to PP's attention.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Indeed. And -ise is certainly more commonly used that -ize on this side of the pond. The OED's argument appears to be that from an etymological standpoint -ize more closely mirrors its Grecian root. Whether that makes it correct or more correct is irrelevant largely speaking given that the question was why Martin Cutts chooses to use -ize. I suspect that the etymological weight was the decider. What is acceptable is a matter of opinion, it isn't laid down by the OED. Saying what we all know. PE are scammers of the worst kind, with a system at Queens hospital that could easily be made more fair (after all, the system knows when you arrived when you key in your number plate, but doesn't bother to tell you). Despite what we say, Crapita probably like their purchase of PE. After all, for a company which routinely fleeces the public purse for delivering second rate services to the public sector, the acquisition of a company which similarly fleeces the general public in the private sector fits their company ethos perfectly.
BTW, while on the subject of the Americanis(z?)ation of the article, why does he use the phrase "licence plate", which apart from the UK spelling of "licence" (thankfully) is an American term not generally used here.0 -
