Booking a BA flight, want to maximise Avios points

I’m about to book a British Airwaysflights and am looking to maximise my collection of Avios points.
BA will charge me for using my LloydsAmex card, but I’m told that American Express have there own travel/flightbooking website. If that’s true what is it nd is it worth it?

Secondly, if I book through that, canI contact BA after the booking to link that booking to my Avios account?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can get Avios by taking a BA flight no matter how you book it.

However, if you want to maximise your Avios then make sure that you fly first class. If you can afford to do so, you do not need to worry about little things like the booking fee.

BA american express card gives more avios per £ spent on BA flights than standard.

You should always be able to access the "manage my booking" page of the BA website and add your BAEC membership number to get avios credited for the flight.

Booking WT+ class & upgrading to CW is an excellent way to get value from your Avios.
