Could I be entitled to some housing benefit?

I have recently had to drastically lower my hours at work. My disabled son needs constant care and supervision.
My husband and I have a total combined income from our jobs of £14,788.80
I have put in a claim for carers allowence and we get tax credits and my sons DLA.
At present we pay full rent and council tax. Would we be entitled to any help with these now?
Thanks in advance x

Enter your details into the Turn2us online benefit calculator and it will indicate your HB/council tax entitlements.
If you live in the private sector, your local council website will indicate the maximum Local Housing Allowance rate for the size of property you are entitled to which you'll need for the calculator.
EDIT - if your son isn't an adult, you may find you are entitled to some working tax credit. To qualify for it, apart from low income, the parents of the child need to work at least 24 hours per week with one of them working at least 16 of it.0 -
Most councils have a calculator on their site. I use this as a guide.
I think my local council cut off is about 12,000 but without knowing if you have child care costs and which bits is salary are disregarded it is hard to say.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Thanks

My son is 8 years old I have another child who is 9.
I now work 15 hours per week and hubby works 30.
I will contact tax credits as soon as I hear from the carers allowence. (should I do this before ?? since my hours have dropped?):santa2::xmassmile:snow_grin:rudolf::xmastree::rudolf::xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2:

If your child gets at least mid rate care then it is disability element of child tax credits that they would get. WTC dis element is I think normally for the adult who has dis & works 16 hours. Ring them asap as not sure how far they will back date. mid care would get £3100 & if high care DLA it would be a further £1255 on top, which may get tapered down due to income.0

You get the disability premium whatever DLA rate the child is on or if the child is registered blind.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
