Hen do games - any ideas??

Hello,

I am going on possibly the worst organised hen do ever in a few days...I have been asked if I know any good games we could play. I don't know the Hen very well at all - I am more a friend of her partner..
If anyone has any good games they could suggest for a group of 8 ladies, I'd be very grateful!
Some can include alcohol if they have to

  • Mr & Mrs is always a laugh - where you ask the groom a list of questions (eg: Fave colour, song )
then you ask the bride the same questions about the groom.
Grooms always tend to stitch the bride up a little mind...!

There is a game where you all write down a memory of thebride and she has to guess who it is - that is always a good ice breaker too x
    :rotfl:
  • Try searching for Hen Party games on Pinterest, as ellesbellesxxx mentioned above the Mr & Mrs game is great fun and there would be printable lists of questions to ask on Pinterest too.
There's the Hen Party scavenger hunt bingo ones too, where you have to 'collect' all manner of things!! :)
Etsy has some ideas that you might be able to customise to the bride and the party:

Ping pong balls in an empty tissue box...tissue box strapped round hips of game player...time how long it takes to dance / shake out all the balls. Winner has best time. Good for those who don't mind making themselves look a bit daft.

Mr and Mrs is good as has been suggested. When a question is answered wrongly the hen can be made to do a dare. I had to shave a balloon and fish a malteaser out of a bowl of whipped cream (the bowl was too small for my head so just ended up with a face of cream).

Pin the tail on the *ahem* male. Just like the children's game involving the donkey but far more giggle inducing.

Handbag bingo. Really simple...call out a list of items a woman may have in her bag, person with the most items from the list wins. Start off with the standard purse, brush, nail file etc and raise the stakes to more unusual but perfectly reasonable items like plasters, spare tights, condoms, fresh wipe.

Do you remember the Friends episode where Rachel orders a bunny cake for Emma's birthday but the cake that arrives is far more risqu!? Ross then turns it into a bunny. We did this with homemade plasticine. We were all given a board with a flat plasticine male appendage, a plastic knife and a tube of writing icing with the challenge of turning it into a bunny. One person was nominated as a judge and left the room whilst the rest of us has 5 mins to get busy...the entries were then left anonymously on the floor and the judge came back in to pick the winner.
  • 1. Treasure Hunt
Before your girlies arrive hide items around the house and in the garden if the weather is good. These items will already have an allocated a dare, prize or task. Prepare written cards (in envelopes optional, coloured paper), with clues on them to be randomly picked from a bag by each lady. The aim is for each lady to find her item. This game is a great ice breaker to get everyone in the spirit of the night and can continue into your night. You can also be a bit cheeky and make the prizes in theme with the night you have planned ahead.
    2. Photo Game
The friends and family attending have to find the worst photos they can of the groom and on the night the winning photo is decided and the hen has to carry it with her around all night and show people who she is marrying. This is a great game for those that know Mr and Mrs well, and for a hen that has a great sense of humour.
Alternatively you can add your own twist to this by, doing it with a photo of the hen either as a baby or a fun photo of her.
    3. Bottom Popping!
This game is a spin off of the truth or dare game and is a great way to disguise the fact that this game is actually just the same as truth or dare, without calling it that, clever hey.
You will need a pack of balloons, pen, paper and air….
    • Write dares, truths or challenges set for the night on separate pieces of paper and fold them up. Put these inside a balloon and blow the balloon up.
    • Once your party has arrived, they pick a balloon each and have to place their balloon on a chair and sit on it to pop it, to find their task.
    4. Special Moments and Questions
Ask all the ladies attending the party to prepare a story about the hen, this allows people to separately express how much they love the hen and get to show her that they all are here to share this special night with her.
Then move on to one question each that you asked everyone to think of, about the groom. This gets everyone all loved up and in a mischievous mood.
    5. Code Words and Actions
As a group come up with or already have some prepared code words that agreed when heard an action must be performed by everyone in the group and have one code word for each lady in the group. This is so much fun and everyone gets involved and giggling.

6: Grab a male volunteer and see what you can do together.

    7. Truth or Dare, Challenges
Throughout the night appoint truth questions, dares and challenges. You do not have to be to extreme to make these work. Keep them at the level where everyone is happy to take part, which means they do not have to be embarrassing to get a good response. If you have a situation when someone is really not comfortable take part, include them by introducing a forfeit by offering them a shot to drink or buy the next round of drinks.
    8. Checklist Challenge
This is a great game to give to the Hen to complete throughout the night where she has to get photographic evidence to prove the completion of the task. The rest of the party to be aware and help her with. Suggestions for a check-list:
    • Photo of the Hen with a Police Officer
    • Photo of the Hen dancing on a table
    • photo of the Hen demonstrating a Karma Sutra position of her choice….assistance will be needed.
    • Gargle the wedding theme song
    • Kiss on the cheek to s stranger of their choice
    • Get advice from a married couple
    • Collect as many condoms from people as you can during the night
    9. Twister
Get out the twister mat and board, let the game do what it does best. You will catch some great photo opportunities and laugh a lot and that is never a bad thing.
    10. Dodgy Item
Get hold of the funniest naughty accessory you can, large enough so you can see what it is, You have to convince as many people you meet to take a photo with the object in a funny pose.
    11. Candy Necklace
Give each lady in the group a candy sweet necklace, that they have to wear around their neck throughout the night. The aim is to get the sweets eaten, one rule…that the sweets can only be eaten by males.
    12. Drinking Games
Drinking games can add some extra spice to the night and from my experience are expected and welcomed. Be careful to not start to early or play to many early on, as you do not want a crashed out group before you leave.
    13. Never Have I Ever
This is a simple game, requiring a group of fun hens and some drinks. You begin with the Hen or the Hen’s friend that is organising the party to start, then go round the group one at a time, by saying something they have never done. If someone has done what has just been said, they have to take a big sip of their drink.
For example: Never have I ever gone commando on a night out!
This will open everyone up and help the group bond, know something about them, makes you feel closer.
    14. Fate in the fingertips of flipping a coin
Put a glass in the middle of the table and get the first person to put some of their drink in the glass. They then flip a coin after calling heads or tails. If it lands on what they chose it is the next players to turn to add some of their drink to the glass in the middle, make a call and flip the coin. If the coin does not land on what is called by the player, she has to drink everything in the glass. This game continues. You can play tactfully, by being careful how much you add to the glass when it is your turn or take a risk and put a lot in and if you get away the person next to you may not be so lucky.
    15. The letter game
Start at the beginning of the alphabet with the letter ‘a’, you can have any theme, such as pop bands, boy’s names, TV characters etc, just make sure it is not too difficult. Each person has 30 seconds to say an answer beginning with that letter. If they can not answer it in time, they have to take a big gulp of their drink. Then move on to the next person and start with the next letter.
It is technically not a game, although it serves the same purpose of creating a fantastic atmosphere and laughter and that is karaoke. You will be surprised how many people resist at the beginning and they are the ones you have to fight off to get a turn to sing. Karaoke allows all age groups to get involved and blast out some memorable tunes. The added bonus of music playing, will guarantee an active party, itching to get out and dance the night away into the early hours.
That should be enough to help you plan games into your night and make it suitable for all those attending. It will make the night stress free, filled with laughter and fantastic memories in years to come, not to forget a very lucky and extremely happy Hen, who had the best night as a single woman.

In the unlikely event that I am ever invited to a Hen Do, someone remind me of this thread so that I can gracefully decline ...

  • To be fair not all hen dos involve games. I've only been on one that did and it was relatively tame (Mr and Mrs and the checklist thing were the only games we played).

One I've seen that could be quite fun is something relating to what the bride does for work - so if she's a teacher test her on what she teaches, if she's a doctor ask her to identify body parts from bad photocopies etc.

  • How about the game where 2 teams are formed bride and moh at head of team and teams use loo rolls to dress head of team up in wedding dresses a la andrex puppy style?

  • Fantastic ideas here - thanks so much! Thanks Stevie Palimo - clearly know what you're talking about!
As I said, I don't know the bride very well so I definitely won't be leading these games...

Ahh my hen do was so much more basic than this... Just had a sleepover, bottle of vodka, watched a really cheesy horror movie and turned it into a drinking game, e.g. each time a woman screamed take a shot, when you guessed an obvious death one shot, each time you laughed at the terrible cgi/costumes take a shot... very basic but a lot of fun, although we didn't last very long!
