Morning all,
quick question, have searched the forum and found very conflicting info so shall be brief.
Signed up for new BT phone, Broadband and TV package and am trying to build up my credit history. I was wondering, do they report to the CRA's as it seems some people say so but most say no.
thanks in advance

Haven’t got a definitive answere for you. In my case, they do not report my landline / broadband package, but they do report my mobile to Equifax only.0

If you pay on time. What's to report. The whole point of CRA's is in essence to report any factor which could be regarded as negative or something which might influence a lenders decision. There's no brownie point scheme.0

Exactly that. They report each month that I have paid on time. My experience is that lenders don’t just look at negatives, but positive info as well. Although how much weight is given to a "well run" phone account is anyone’s guess.0 -

It's not the fact that you are paying your bill on time, it's the fact you have a landline or permanent contact point as far as I know.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
I recently got my credit reports and I can confirm that BT were reporting my land line to Equifax on my account which ran from 2008 to 2013. I then changed to a different supplier.
Having a land line is supposedly seen as a positive as it shows stability and a permanent contact point. Although I never used my land line as a phone only for broadband...
It doesn't show as a debt in any way as it reports as the terms being 0 @ £0 Quarterly. But it does show my monthly direct debits as all green, so I presume if you missed your monthly payments this would show up also.0 -

I don't intend to look for a brownie point scheme. I am unlucky\unlucky depending on your point of view to not have a credit file, no accounts showing, no record of ever asking for any and as such in the eyes of financial institutions I have the trustworthiness of a bank robber who's 10 million in debt. Any positive information reported will help me in future to gain more information on my credit file which in turn will give me more flexibility in my financial life.
even asking for a cashplus card and a current account required me to appeal declines or refusals of service, I merely want to actually exist in the eyes of the CRA's as it appears having no credit history is as bad as being a bankrupt with a fraud conviction based on how banks and institutions treat you as a result.0 -
To the OP. I think that you are just going to have to wait and see. The only common denominator seems to be Equifax. I know that with my Mobile phone report, they do occasionally miss a month, and this is reported as "Transaction not received this month”. Also the reporting is generally a couple of months behind. Good luck.0
