My insurance runs out on 20th september.

It will probably be cheaper just to take out a new policy that will accept your new car and swallow the admin fee for a change of car when the time comes.

(There are not usually any extra fees with temp cover, but the premium for 4/6 weeks temp cover will be expensive)

I had to take out extra cover for a courtesy car a couple of months back and was able to take out a week by week policy with my main insurance provider. It didn't work out great at £64 a week when my normal insurance is £94 a month. The courtesy car was a newer model and a larger engine however so maybe weigh out the costs of renewing and paying admin fees to change to the new car against a short term contract first?
