Do you have a copy of the Ts&Cs from when you booked the holiday?
The problem is that the information is there now, and they could argue it has always been there and you just missed it. Especially if they can provide some proof of any changes done to their website.
Unless you can find a cached copy of the page on google backing up your version, you don't really have anywhere to go if they take that stance.
We never even got a booking confirmation sent or any terms and conditions either it's been a farce from start to finish

I think you are probably in an even weaker position then. No doubt they would be able to produce documents showing their terms on the date you booked the holiday, and no doubt it will include the fees you are having to pay. And of course they will say they supplied you with this.
Unfortunately, I don't believe shoddy customer service is a legally recognised reason to obtain a refund. Is there anyway you can get them to reinstate the accomodation so at least you can still have a holiday that you have half paid for anyway?0 -
The thing is you can't base one customers experience on how many complaints there is about the same issue... Not everyone posts online I've had issues with other things in the past this is the first
Time I've ever posted somewhere about it. And I have found other posts about the other things I have mentioned like changing the price of the flights and their bad customer service.
What you claim happened would affect all customers. Are your suggesting that out of thousands, not one person would have complained before, had it happened to them? As already mentioned OTB have a poor reputation, but poor customer service is not grounds to cancel a booking.0 -
Are you sure? Have you checked Junk & Spam folders in case?We never even got a booking confirmation sent or any terms and conditions either it's been a farce from start to finish
I only suggest this as I didn't realise until recently that Google was putting some of my mail into the Spam folder online before it ever stood a chance of being downloaded by Thunderbird and ending up in my Junk folder - so I didn't know it was there, I never looked at my Googlemail online!

I did chase this up the very next day I both spoke to them on the phone and via email but all I kept getting back was that this would have been advised on my booking confirmation.. Maybe it's just me but I don't think advising on the booking confirmation after I've already booked is good enough

I wasn't implying that poor customer service were grounds to cancel I was simply stating that it was one of the reasons that I no longer want to travel with them...
I am not suggesting that no one would have complained before no but what I'm getting from you is that you are suggesting that I am either lying about this for what reason I do not know. Or that I am stupid and didn't check it properly before booking which I assure you both myself and my friend went through it with a fine tooth comb before booking.
I didn't post this to argue out whether or not anyone else had, had the same problem or whether or not I read something properly I posted it out of interest to see if anyone else had ever had this problem after all as you state 1000s of people have booked with them so I thought maybe one of these people might see this and share their experience. I do not have time to trawl the internet looking for similar complaints so it was easier for me to do it this way. At no point did it cross my mind while posting this that I was going to get into a battle with you about it.0 -

I don't know, you're probably right! I just thought I'd see out of interest if anyone else had, had the same problem and get some advice with how they went on with but it's looking like I'll probably have to just suck it up and pay the cancellation! Thanks for your advice

First of all, get hold of that booking confirmation.
If the details on that are different to the amount they actually attempted to take, you may have some comeback.0
