Coffee shop here too, met my now OH and started off by saying I had to be somewhere else in 1 hour
. Just to be on the safe side if I didn't like him IRL. We ended up spending the whole afternoon together chatting away, by which time we'd moved on to a bar lol.
Didn't meet him on a dating website though, were sort of introduced by a mutual friend and had spent a few months chatting online as we were on different continents.0 -
I went on a first date to an otter sanctuary. It was all very Alan Partridge and a bit weird (although it was my choice, I thought it would be funny).
We didn't hit it off, but I've seen him at so many gigs/festivals/bars around the UK since then, I think maybe we should have given it a bit more of a chance!Mortgage: [STRIKE]Apr 2014 £141, 415[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£137,491[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£128k [/STRIKE] Dec 2019 £81,6210 -
We met in a coffee shop straight after work (we work in the same town but live in different places). It gave us a short period of time to decide if we wanted to see each other, and a good excuse to escape. The next date lasted 8 hours :-)0

Try Macdonalds - if a date can cope with that they can cope with anything..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

I do the coffee shop or pub option, but I always drive and I always keep it daytime. I go with a time limit in my head. I also like the idea of it being like a "pre-date" so I don't feel like I owe them anything if it doesn't work out. I had this recently, met up a couple of times for a costa, but there was no chemistry for me. Its hard, as I feel guilty that i've wasted their time, but equally I say I am looking for friendship too, so that kind of takes the pressure off.
Second the advice of telling someone when and where you are meeting.
Good luck OP.0 -
Are there any unique bars in your area? Similar to those bubble tea joints. The park is a good one when it's warm and sunny (which is rare in Britain). Maybe somewhere like a milk shake or healthy drink spot and then go for a walk with your drinks while getting to know each other.0

One of my colleagues who met someone online recently, met them at the motorway services, which was about 12-13 miles south of him, and 12-13 miles north of her. Lots of people, public place, nobody knew him there, and he didn't have to keep bumping into her if he didn't want to see her again.
Good luck OP.You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I went to a coffee shop, then a restaurant. My friend made me text her the car reg number incase i was abducted, and i had to contact her at a certain time to tell her i was still alive. My mam said he must be a serial killer if he's on a dating website until i pointed out i was also on the website.!
I've been with him 3 years,and we got married 8 months ago. Third time lucky. Plenty of Fish dating site. I may have checked his facebook page to make sure he had a real family etc before we met....0 -
