Thanks Bean83, I never even knew I had new posts on this until you commented
Yeah I received a beautiful message from her this morning, which was also reported.

Well they clearly have nothing better to do today than hang around and be horrible to people!
Anyway, back to the topic of the thread - personally, I wouldn't wear jeans (even very smart ones) as some venues have a ban on them for weddings. The maxi skirt and new top you suggested sounds perfect0 -

Haha I know.
Thank you for your advice. I'm not too sure on the style of top to wear with it. I normally wear a black vest top but that's a bit too casual for a wedding. I'll have to play dress up and see what looks goodOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Please ignore the poster above, I have reported their post. They have also made a very rude post on another thread, so I doubt they'll be around for long. I haven't quoted the post as I don't want to encourage them; hopefully their post will be deleted soon, and then this won't make any sense0

My old work friend is getting married and I've been invited to the reception, but I'm not too sure what would be suitable to wear. I've only ever been to three weddings where I wasn't a bridesmaid and they were when I was about 11 so I need some help!
I'm 22, 5ft 8" and about a size 14-16.
Welcome to my world!
Weddings are like blooming busses over the last two years (had 5 in total, one was my own!).
Depending on your normal style, and whether you feel comfortable dressing up, i'd second the 50's style dress. Got a gorgeous royal blue and white polka dot Vivian of Holloway Halterneck circle dress off ebay for less than £40, plus enhances all the good bits of being a woman!Plus you can put a bolero/cardi if you feel a bit self concious and still look fab!
The maxi skirt and vest top sounds like a lovely combo - if its a plain vest top, go for a bold statement necklace to dress it up...well, just accessorise in general. They are pretty much key as to how dressy your outfit is. What would you wear if you were going out for a 'posh' dinner with your OH? Chances are you are in the right ball park there.
As another poster said, as long as it isnt 'trashy' (i suppose we all have our own versions of this!) or too casual, you cant go wrong.
Have fun!Change is inevitable...nothing stays the same forever

Thanks for the advice.
I'm a bit skint so I'm trying to spent as little as possible. She's having the wedding in an expensive hotel so need money for that.
I've just tried on two outfits: one is a grey skater dress that has black applique flowers on it. Looks more expensive and posh than it is!
The other one is a white maxi dress with short sleeves and a black Paisley - like patternOur Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016
