Royal Mail postage

Hi, I am a bit confused with RM prices regarding letters and parcels.

I know the small parcel costs £2.80 standard rate but want to post a pair of trousers in one of those plastic sacks instead of a box.

I thought there would be a price range for "packages" like this - does his sort of package still come under parcel rates?

It depends how thick it is. In between letter and small parcel is large letter, which is up to 25mm x 250mm.

The plastic envelopes I want to use measure 320 x 440 mm and will be about 50 mm thick so, too big for the large envelope

Do you think that will take me into the "medium box" price bracket?

Id use a box to make sure of band. Trousers can "bunch up" in a postal bag and go up into the next band.

If they do go into next band, buyers get RM red card asking for more postage, and seller could well be on way to an ebay "defect".

You must be able to fit a pair of trousers in a small parcel for £2.80. There's no way you can make them take up any more space than that.

That would be MP, as SP maximum size is 350x250x80. As has been said a pair of trousers should fit within the SP size limit.

I agree, I've sold lots of trousers and jeans sent them in a mailing sack as a small parcel.

Thanks for correcting me - I've got the two muddled. I'm not sure how as I seem to spend half my day getting packets under 16cm!
