Frustrated!

Just wanted a little rant, found out last week we may actually be able to complete Friday this week...cue nothing booked or organised but we have been waiting ages so are happy to try! I spent all last week pushing for confirmation so I can at least sort out any van guys to move the big stuff, but no reply all last week.

Cue today, find out our solicitor is off...thats fine but why didn't someone tell me this last week? And the new person taking over will have it flagged up today and will go over it and should contact me today/tomorrow.

Im so darn frustrated with this whole process, feel likes its getting less and less likely we will complete on Friday and want to stamp my feel like a little kid!

Anyone got any horror stories or similar stories which worked out they want to share so I dont feel so alone!!

Jodles :)

An assuming you haven't exchanged. Push for that, with a few days extra before completion. Everyone knows where they are then!

And Friday is probably the worst day of the week to pick!

    Not sure why the rant.

You've pushed for Completion .... and got it on Friday (no mention whether you are Exchanging same day or in advance).

The fact your solicitor is off does not matter. You've already been advised a colleague will take over, so.......?

    Keep cool and good luck.

The frustration is that no one is saying whether we will complete, and all of us in the chain wanted an exchange at least a week before...no chance now! I guess its frustrating to have no actual control over a process and to not understand why things have been held up, we have been in this process since April because of different things, I guess four months isn't the longest time but feels it!

    Ah well...

Since you have not exchanged, no solicitor can confirm you will Complete.

Completion date is not guaranteed until Exchange has taken place.

If the plan is to Exchange/Complete on the same day, it is only on the day itself that you will know for sure. One of the reasons most people insist on Exchange in advance.

I feel your pain as our 25 year old DS was in a similar situation. He was selling his first flat to a FTB - it went under offer within a week back in April and exchange had been on the cards for what seemed like ages, but the FTB had really been dragging their feet over everything, not helped by the fact her dad is a retired surveyor!

Last week the whole deal threatened to fall apart as the vendor of the flat DS is buying issued an ultimatum that if exchange didn't happen by the end of the week he was pulling out :(

This would have been a disaster as DS (selling in London to buy in Brighton) was about to lose his weekly (very cheap) flat share and could ultimately have lost him his job as he had no time to find a new place to stay.

Then DS's conveyancing solicitor went on holiday without telling DS and they were left with a *locum* solicitor to deal with things. As it happened this guy managed to do what their actual solicitor hadn't and they exchanged that day......with completion set for today....yay!

So they went from thinking all was lost one day, to having to rush round and organise removals etc the next.

Fingers crossed your exchange happens very soon......

Sorry to hear things are no clearer jodles16 but glad to have given you hope ;) DS completed at 3pm today after accepting an offer the first week in April. He's been through some pretty hairy moments but got there in the end - so don't give up hope x
