cavity wall insulation problem

On Friday of last week we had Green Deal Advice Bureau come to put in cavity wall insulation, and one of the guys drilled through our electric , the internet went off and the fridge, pond filter etc , I said to him "have you drilled through our electric" he said no, but he had, they did some faffing with my fuse box and when they were leaving I said, so all the electrics are now fixed and he pointed to a light that was on another circuit and said "yes look the light is on" but after they had gone , it became apparent that they had not infact fixed anything and we were still without power to all the sockets affected by the drilling incident what should I do. im about to ring them but not sure of my rights

Hopefully, Green Deal will have insurance cover for accidental damage, but it's you who will have to prove their responsibility.

On theAssumption you have standard cavity walls with an outer face of brick, a gap, and an inner face of insulating blocks.
The insulation installer will drill holes in the cement between the bricks, pump in the filler and repair the hole with cement, which is never quite an exact match to the original - So by carefully looking at the brickwork it can be seen exactly where the holes were drilled.

You are going to need a local sparks to identify where the cable runs are in relation to the drilled holes, find the break and repair it, all of which is time consuming and costly.

It's vital that his work is video recorded - For an insulation fitter to run a drill through the width of a brick, bridge the entire cavity and then continue through most of the inner wall is one hell of a mistake - However if the severed cable has actually been run within the cavity, it's not Green Deals fault as no cable should be there
