In-store returns/refund policy

Hi everyone

Hopefully this is the right place to post this, if not, apologies.

Can someone please clarify this for me? When a store's returns policy states "within one month" for a full refund, how long is this? I always thought it meant 30 days, because those places with 28 days specifically state "28 days" on their notices, etc. This is specifically in relation to River Island. I asked in-store today and the sales assistant first of all said "it's 28 days", before showing me the receipt and saying "because you bought it on the 25th August, you have to return by the 25th September". This obviously contradicts what he originally said but I didn't want to cause a fuss. I posted on River Island's Facebook a couple of days ago and although they usually reply, they haven't this time round.

I bought a top for a gift but the birthday is not until 22nd September. It was the last in stock and sold out online and I don't want to be stuck with an exchange only given the price I paid.

Thanks :)

It is entirely up to River Island how they interpret their policy.

However, I would say that when the assistant said "because you bought it on the 25th August, you have to return by the 25th September", he was probably right.

I'm guessing it's one month as in calendar month. So if you bought it on the 20th February and had to return it by 20th March this would give you less days than 20th August to 20th September for example.
