Big yellow stripe appeared on lawn?

Hi

Just came back from weekend away and - in the last 2/3 days - a big yellow stripe has appeared across our lawn (no sign of it Friday). Maybe 1ft lawn wide and 20ft long. At an angle across the lawn, from the patio. Almost looks like something was dragged, but I have no ideas. I have no pets, but one 4.5 year old. Lawn was treated by GreenThumb last week. We also had some guys come to the house to empty two raised beds of soil (but they didn't do anything chemical).

Thoughts? Anything we can do (not painting grass green again) to help it recover quicker (hope it doesn't die) :(

Thanks

did they have those big sacky things with handles to put the soil in. They may well have dragged it and so concentrated the chemical applied in other areas causing an overdose?

This is just a random guess based on no experience at all.

If it is the same cause as yellow snow, you will be looking for a very big bloke!
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Case of Green Thumb, Yellow Rain?

I'd guess they oversprayed, dragged, spread something. A photo might help, but I guess they use some selective weedkiller occasionally. I'm too mean to use a professional, and get my wife to spray it instead.....

If you are getting the rain we are, your lawn will temporarily become a lake, and when that's gone, it should all return to green.

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

The guys that were doing clearance used wheelbarrows. They initially did go in that area, but I asked them to use the path instead. The stripe (currently - it may grow!) ends under the tree.

Green Thumb used both a herbicide spray and a pellet feed. I saw a bit if what he was doing, but was doing other things (inside the house) and not paying a lot of attention. He may we have had some sort of cart and refilled from there (big garden), but I don't really remember.

It does seem more likely "chemical" than physical.. Stripe just looks like "yellow" grass...

Would have to be an elephant peeing ;)

I am currently praying that the grass doesn't die and leave a 20ft by 1ft dead patch...

Hmmm - could be you have a land drain underground and the area has dried out. If it looks as if its dying then rake it to get ride of the dead bits & give it a high nitrogen feed (Miraclegrow?) & it'll soon recover
