choice of two cars

Thanks for the oil consumption links, but it is the 1.2 TSI 86HP that I'm considering and I think they have a good reputation and no scares about oil consumption, seems that is a problem for the sporty VRS model.
Seems the Jazz is the favourite amongst people. Ive been trying to find a deal on that and hope that getting a 14 plate might bring the price down a bit as they are pricey for a small car. Local dealer is a bit rubbish coming up with deals on all kinds of specs Im not intersted and saying base models etc are hard to find or non existent which is a pity so looking elsewhere.
thanks for all the advice.0 -
I would have the Jazz
There have been more than a few reports of serious reliability issues with the 1.2 turbo engine.
And VAG have happily left owners in the lurch a few days outside warranty when a car with few miles and full dealer history has a problem leading to a huge bill.
A mate had a Jazz and it was, or rather still is, a solid and reliable little car.
Does 50mpg aswell.0 -
There are always a few 9month old Jazz for sale at a decent price.
They seem to be ex Honda staff vehicles.
Try DrivetheDeal as new is better than ex deml imho.
As an example if you buy demo and it is written off in 1st year you will vet hammered.
If you bought new you would get a brand new car.
Entry level 1.2 S with Aircon for just over £11k. Over £1000 discount on new price on DrivetheDeal
And demo cars have been drivsen by all and sundry and take home by a salesman every night.
I would expect Jazz residuals to be good aswell.
With the engine issues with the 1.2Tsi will this affect trade in values/residuals in the future?0 -
Yes I see where this is going, the Jazz does look to be the more sensible option.
With the Drivethedeal, can i clear a few things up as haven't bought a car in a very long time.
When you decide model etc and click Order This Car (or whatever the button says) are you contacted then by a dealer (or is it several?) who can offer the headline price>?
Do I assume a certain reg, say 64 if I do it Tuesday? or is that up to the dealers offer?
Are the other options then negotiated if I decide on options? (i would go for the 5 year deal which looks a bargain).
Do I have an option to refuse the dealers offer if thier offer doesnt have say the plate reg I expect or colour I want? If so what happens then?
Sorry for all questions but appreciate help from someone whose done it before.
Thank you.0
