New landlord blocking access to garage

Phone the new owner and point out your situation, they might let you keep on using their land until the rental runs out. Check your rental agreement with the council, it may surprise you that with many LA agreements, it is so badly written, you might have rights to use the garage space, but no automatic right to actually access it.0

It sounds to me as if the new landlord wants you to take the hump and vacate your garage, especially if the rumours you have heard are correct. I used to rent lock-ups, the landlords stopped any grounds maintenance then put in for planning permission to put housing on there, noting that it would "remove the eyesore of badly maintained garages". Didn't get planning permission, though, but it was replaced with an Aldi.
If it comes to that, though, I would make sure I went down and removed my new £2000 garage building, though a second-hand sectional garage is worth nothing these days.0 -
Have you got a lease-check what that says about access if so, but I'd go down the nice route first just incase they are stupid and unaware of whats going on.0

Lots of council garages are used for storage. Near us, most of the garages are used for storage of guide, scout or Round Table equipment. The garages are pretty useless for the safe storage of cars.forgive the irrelevancy of the questions, but out of curiosity, what earthly good is a garage 2 miles from your house?
And why did you spend £2000 refurbishing it if it belongs to someone else?
I suspect that the garage user has few rights. What rights they may have will be contained in the rental agreement and it is a fair bet that they can be given notice at any reasonable time, and it is not clear to me whether the rental rights are transferable to the new land owner (there are rights that you have as a leaseholder on commercial rental, and this might apply here, but you'd need proper legal advice to see whether you had a contract that you could not be evicted from without agreement).0 -
Take a bow saw down and cut-up the branches and cart them off to the side so you can get through. If you return later and find they are back where they started, then you will know that the new owner is trying to get you to quit.Never Knowingly Understood.
