Cost of incandescent 60 watt lightbulb

Please can you help, I bought an industrial vintage lamp for my kitchen and the ideal lightbulb to go with it is an old style Edison incandescent 60 watt lightbulb.

Now I am getting worried that the cost of running it is going to be prohibitive. I know that LED would have been much more economical, but I really wanted the old style lighting.

My electricity provider charges just short of 15 pence per unit. How do I calculate the cost per hour of my new lightbulb?

Thank you for your help.

Halogen bulbs can look similar and are a bit cheaper to use.

A 60 watt light bulb will consume 60watts in one hour and will therefore take 1000/60 = 16.6 hours to consume 1kwh.
If you pay 15p a unit (kwh) then it will cost you just under a penny an hour to run it.
If you assume that you'll have it on for three hours a day for 365 days a year = about £10 per year. I doubt it will break the bank.

An equivalent LED lamp would take 1000/4 = 250 hours to use a unit and would cost about 66 pence a year.

Leds really score when you've got a lot of lighting such as in a kitchen with 8-10 50watt downlighters where you can be using 500watts an hour. They would cost you 7.5p an hour to run whereas 10 x 4 watt LEDs would reduce this to just over a halfpenny an hour.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Thank you for your useful replies. Everywhere in the house we have LED and other saving ones, but this is the one lamp that I really want to look good, we spent a lot in making the kitchen (the heart of the home as far as I am concerned) look lovely. And the light is dimmable, we have dimmer switch. Yeh, not breaking the bank, a small indulgence in an otherwise frugal lifestyle! I was worried it would run to goodness knows what, but a tenner a year I can afford!
