How long before links allowed?

Options
Trying to post for first time in DIY, with some images to some lock fittings, only to be told I cannot post links as a new user? Although the rather poor forum forum software cannot tell difference between links and images? :T

How long before I can create a post with an image?

If you post in the relevant bit of the forum with a broken link - put a gap in it or something - someone who can post links will put the proper link in for you.
The rule is to stop spammers, not sure exactly how many posts it needs before you can post them properly.

Humm not really working, gaps ect.

Why punish newbie users for a lack of spam detection? It's not my fault your site can't detect i'm real and not bot spammer

There is a way, I've seen other people do it. Can't remember exactly what though, which isn't much help.
Try posting anyway, and see if anyone else has more of a clue than me how the broken link thing works?

Edit - try omitting the http:/ at the front but type the rest.
