I think it's fine to give the littlies a lunchtime type snack for their evening meal if they eat well at school. If I've made chilli or a hot curry for the adults I often give the littles a sandwich, crisps and fruit or a yoghurt instead of cooking an alternative 'big' meal. My littlies generally eat much smaller portions at night because they've already eaten breakfast, break time toast, lunch, afternoon fruit and an after school club sandwich. They eat more meals than the rest of us!!

This evening we adults had cottage pie (meal planning got muddled as the week progresses!) and they had a couple of tablespoons full to be sociable. The eldest was full after that but smallest boy went on to cake & custard followed by a huge banana. His appetite varies a lot so I generally start with a small serving for him then add extra bits if required.

  • Just seen this thread and I would like to join please!! So far I haven't wandered over to the grocery challenges on other boards although I know they're there!!

My budget is £25 a week for food, toiletries and cleaning products, which is what I got from Stepchange as recommended for a single person. (I'm not on a DMP, just have received advice regarding all my payments and they did me a budget.)

However I'm not sure if I actually stick to it as I fail to meal plan and often go to Mr T's as it is virtually my corner shop, I live so close to it!! LOL

I would like to use this challenge to make sure I stick to budget and become better at meal planning.
