I need your Help!!!
Hi All,
I have been reading through the various threads linked to this board. for the past few weeks. I have now decided to take the plunge and seek your expert guidance in relation to my gardens. Back, Front and Side. I live in a modern property built in the 1970's I think I have a South West facing garden. When facing the garden at the back it is SW, facing the front it is NE.
Garden a bit overgrown on the sides at the front.I have several plants in pots in the back garden also a small lawned area.but unsure where best to plant them out and which ones to keep in pots.
The front garden has got Hot Poker which has not grown very well also aillium. Thinking of digging these up and putting in the back.
I have a side entrance which is quite shady, Need to know what time of plants I could grow there in a large pot by the side door. Also how to put more colour in that area.
Which one do I tackle first.
Please can someone advise on how to attach photo's
Thanks

Have a look at crocus.co.uk or RHS web site, they both have extensive plant selectors where you can search by sun/shade, aspect, etc. and advice on how to care.
If your back garden is south west, so gets the sun from midday to sunset, that's the best aspect for growing in most peeps opinion.
This time of year is when folks are starting to think about autumn lawn care and selecting the Spring bulbs to plant Sep/Oct. Nothing wrong with also picking up bargains in the garden centres, esp. lilies which are 'over' for this year, put pretty much any perennial you plant now is going to go into gentle decline until next year.0 -
Thanks. Yesterday I went to homebase whilst there I found 4 hanging baskets that had been reduced 2 had strawberries (£2) which I have been advised Will come up again next year. The other 2 baskets had summer bedding in and was reduced to £1 each. Got an blue hydrangea, 2 large cordeline type plants.Yellow cone flower. I have plenty of serum, lavender.
I have some red hot poker and aillum which has not thrived well in its current position in the front garden, thinking of moving to the back. I have looked at some websites but unsure how best to plant out.0
