Sounds fab, :) but for £7.5K you could do a world tour! Not just go to Italy. Or do you mean that is the budget for the whole wedding?

Sorry to sound daft, I'm just not sure.

Have a nice time whatever you decide to do.
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

I'd do the relaxing bit at the end.

Keep most of your budget as spending money, Italy aint cheap.

I went to a wedding in Sorrento couple of years back and everything was expensive, it would be really nice if they gave the place a lick of paint and cleared up the rubbish as it just looked unkempt to me.
  • We're about to get married and then go on honeymoon to Italy too. Lake Como first then onto Venice.

Not much else to say about it right now, but I'm sure I will have after we're back!

    Thanks guys.

I am a little worried that we are trying to do a little too much in a short time, and would we be better doing a relaxing trip to an all inclusive resort.

I don't want to get back and feel I need another holiday the oH doesn't want to lug suitcases round hence wanting to drive.

There really is the half way house option. Doing fewer places wandering on foot and training between the few places will probably give more enduring memories than an all inclusive. Has your oh driven in Italy? Italian cities can be something else. Your own car is one thing...a hire car in it makes me nervous of repair costs :) ( fwiw, British plates also tend to mean people give you a bit of a wide berth ;) where as Italian plates no such luck!)

I think the suggestion to ask on the holiday board is good, but on your way I'd ask you to ponder appealed about Italy. :)

I stayed for a week in Venice including flights for..... £250!!

Venice is way too busy for me, I've wanted to go to the amalfi coast for a while though!

We both love Italy and whilst haven't driven in a car, have travelled around to a few places twice on a motorbike.

Last time we went to Genoa, Florence, Rimini, Venice and up to Lake Como and then up through Switzerland to Germany.

Florence is nice for a day or two and we both liked Venice - if you do happen to go there and have time and want to do a sight seeing water tour - buy the water taxi tickets and take one of them - was a fraction of the price and we were out on the water for 2 1/2 hours saw everything that was on the expensive tour and more.

We also stopped at a hotel which is right on the edge of Venice as it had parking - it wasn't cheap but was cheaper than some of the hotels by the canals and it meant that we didn't have to lug luggage around.

Driving is not too bad (ok riding) but the state of some of the roads is a nightmare!

Rimini and the coast is lovely but not quiet and very touristy.

We've also been to Rome (flying in) and that was nice and we would like to go back.

You just need to think about what you want to get out of it - relaxation or sight seeing. You could probably cut down your destinations and then take a couple of city breaks to the other places (if you can afford it) at other times but only you really know what you want out of a holiday (which at the end of the day is what a honeymoon is!)

Having been to most of those cities, to me they are a different type of holiday to a relaxing all inc resort. When I went to those places I did loads of sightseeing and walking, plus they are all very crowded - so Id say they are amazing places to visit..but not relaxing, especially going to so many places. I think like the other poster says think about what kind of holiday you want, what you want to do, and what attracted you to those places. For me I love history, architecture, art gallerys etc. but relaxing by a pool or on the beach wouldn't interest me at all, so think about what you enjoy and what you want to do.
