Economical car with high seat positinon

Looking for a car, budget around £6,000 give or take which is economical to run (so no big 4x4) but has a high driving position. Have looked at the Dacia Duster, but have read that it has rust problems.
Ideally petrol as there seem to be rumblings around diesels and have had problems with dpf in my current ford focus.
Need the high entry position for health reasons.

The older shape Nissan Notes are very reliable and economical and popular with motability customers due to their high driving position. There are plenty of ex-mobility cars around with low mileage - you should be able to get around a 2010 model for your budget.
They are well equipped with climate air con and built in satnav on some models and come as a 1.4, 1.6 or Renault derived 1.5 diesel.0 -

if you liked the Duster , but wisely are staying away then have a good look at the Stepway .
It is made in Romania not as in the Duster India.
There is a world of difference in the build quality!
as a side note any one looking at a new/second hand Duster needs to read the article in Autocar and qoogle rusty duster IMHO

I used to take my elderly Mum shopping and to doctors and hospital appointments. She was having problems getting in and out of my two seater so told me to find something higher and she'd buy it.
While looking around I saw a Fiat Qubo and as it fitted the requirements I bought one, or rather she did.

£30 a year VED, newer models are £20, cheap insurance and the 1.3 diesel does 48 mpg round town and a lot more on a run and the performance is more than adequate.
I tried to hate it, it's hideously ugly, but I can't. I've had it two years and it's comfortable, practical, reliable and costs nothing to run.
Mum is now in a care home but I'll never part with it, except to get another, as it has become my daily driver. I only use the two seat AMG Merc at weekends now, the Fiat is saving me a fortune in fuel costs alone!
They do a petrol version. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
