I have the large one and find it super efficient, it dries perfectly and I used it last night to air washing off the line. I also have three towel warmers as our ch is from a wood pellet stove and I don`t always want to fire it up. During the cold months, I keep one of the towel warmers in the hall and another on the landing as there is no heating in those areas at all. The house is so well insulated that the gentle warmth is all that is needed. I have had then for 4 years and they have been worth every penny

I have a Lakeland one too. The important thing is to lay the clothes out flat on the rungs, layering them up with lighter stuff on the top then thrown a sheet or something similar over the top. This way they dry quickly.

I still use the tumble drier for things that have been outside and just need a quick blast to finish them off.

Of course these airers do use electric which can be expensive. According to the Lakeland website it costs less than 5p an hour to run. So if you had it on all day, at say 4p an hour, thats still 96p a day, £6.72 a week if you had it on all the time. OK not a huge cost but its still something to think about. I am not entirely convinced that a modern, energy efficient tumble drier would cost more to dry a load of lighter stuff but its a different way of doing things I guess.

I have the large Lakeland drier and a tumble drier. We are a large family and we generate a lot of washing. I have 4 teens who do a lot of sport. I use both my driers throughout the autumn/winter. I tumble what I can and the rest gets put on the Lakeland, this way I can keep on top of the drying. In order to keep the damp down, I open windows when possible and use a dehumidifier. I did find that when I put a sheet over the top of the Lakeland drier my laminate floor got damp.

I wouldn't be without either. HTH

I have the lakeland one linked to and I have never seen any water on my floorboards, carpet or vinyl. I was worried do did check to start with.

Clothes dry faster laid flat (I lay jeans or thick clothes flat, not tops) but will dry overnight with the duvet cover or sheet on. Covering the airer makes a massive difference. I open the duvet cover and put it over the whole thing.

Dries bedding fast that way too.

I bit the bullet and bought one today as I've been wanting one for ages and 20% off was too good to miss. It's already left the warehouse for delivery, which is really impressive!

I did read a review on lakeland for the 3 tier one some people said that it only dried the part of the clothing that was on the rungs have any of you found that?

I have Lakeland's largest heated tower airer, and for faster drying I do find that I have to move the clothing round a couple of times during the drying process.

If you just hung things from the rails, I think it would take a very long time for the fabric not near the rails to dry.

Anything laid flat across the rungs dries quickly, but of course if you have a full load of washing to dry, you can't lay everything flat.

aww no :( gutted I missed the offer
  • I have one but find it takes a long time to dry anything if you just hang it on the rungs. It drys better if you drape the washing over it but that means you can only dry a couple of bits at a time :(
In the winter I use the greenhouse (after cleaning it out ) to dry the clothes on an airer during the day if it is wet or very cold with no wind and bring it in overnight and put it in front of the stove to air it off and it drys perfectly with no high humidity problems.
