    UPDATE...

    On 12 Sep 2014
Perceived an email confirming the direct debit has been set up. It ask me to check the account number and sort code and let's me know how much they will take. All is correct, yay!

    On 18 Sep 2014
Received an email letting know the window for submitting my first reading for both electricity and gas was open. It also tells me the date range for gas and electricity separately. This is contrary to my expectation, but a welcome surprise. Many people here have said that the reading must be on the specified date from your new supplier. So I'll do this tomorrow and take a picture with a newspaper in the shot to validate the date as much as I can.

18-27th September is the window for both gas and electric.

So far so good, but would be interested in people's opinions of the first reading date window.
    Peace.
  • WOW

Conclusion on 14 Oct 2014 approx 2 months after the process started.

NPower issue final bill and money in the bank! The money I have been given matches what I was expecting so all is well!

My first Ovo payment went out on 22 Sep 2014

I entered my meter readings on the Ovo web login on 25th Sep 2014, and that was all I had to do.

I'll now make sure I cancel the NPower direct debit with my bank so that there will be no 'accidental' direct debits from my account by NPower.

My only slight niggle is that I can't see my Ovo opening reading when I log in.

Very disappointed that I don't need to raise an official complaint and then go to ombudsman!

I now hope the Quidco/USwitch cash back arrives, but that is always a bonus with these things.
    Peace.

If My Ovo is up and running and you access it via a webpage; i.e., not an app - you can see your meter reading history.

Open My Ovo; click on Meter Readings and underneath the icons you will see 'Electricity Reading History' and 'Gas Reading History'. These are clickable and all your meter readings should be available if My Ovo has been set up fully.

Your opening readings will also be on your first bill. If you have 'Statements on Demand' set up in My Profile then you can request a bill every two weeks; i.e., meter readings must be at least 14 days apart. This is not mentioned in FAQs but it came in an e-mail when I switched to 'Statements on Demand'.
