Wondering about Experian worth..

I've worked really hard to raise my credit rating with Experian and I was pleased to see it at 970 the other day so I applied, based on the cards they suggested were available, for a rewards type card.

And I got refused..

It's the second or third time I get refused a credit card after looking at my credit report and It's probably going to go down again because of that.

What websites do you find more reliable in terms of getting cards?

I have complained to Experian regarding the credit score as it's very misleading to the general public the credit matcher service also seems a dud.

I wouldn't apply for too many credit cards over a 6 month period as it will look as though you are shopping for credit which will reduce your chances.

Probably best to ignore the experian score for what good it will do you.

The problem is that you're asking the wrong questions.

No website can help you get a card. They might be able to point you in the right direction by saying, "Hey, 9/10 people in your situation applied for and were given X card with Y lender," but it is still ultimately down to your personal credit history and the lender's desires as to whether you will be accepted or not.

You would therefore be well advised to make yourself more attractive to lenders. The way to do this is not to borrow more than you can afford, make sure you pay everything in full and on time, and don't keep on applying for credit as lenders can see your searches and it will make you look desperate.

For us to provide any form of tailored information you'd need to less us know about the information in your credit report, not the credit score.

For the record, I know exactly what Experian scores are worth... they're worthless.
    What will your verse be?

Whats your payment history like, any late payments?, Overlimits?, Defaults?, CCJs?, Bankrupts?, Fraud markers?

Are you on the electoral roll?

Have you ever had credit before? Are you trying for Amex, when a credit building card would be better.
