The other party's dodgy conveyancer

While I am sure it is frustrating I don't think it is fair to call the solicitor 'dodgy' which denotes deceitful or acting suspiciously. They have responsibilities to both the lender and your buyer not to you.
They don't get paid until the job is done so I doubt they are extending the process and making more work for themselves for giggles especially as most conveyancing solicitors are fixed fee so get nothing extra for it taking more time
We see it on here occasionally where people complain that they have discovered something the solicitor didn't spot during the conveyancing process and want to sue the solicitors - I wonder how many of them put pressure on the solicitor to exchange or they were pulling out meaning corners got cut or a document didn't get read.
People are spending in most cases hundreds of thousands of pounds and it is important that the conveyancing is done correctly or it can lead to all manner of problems when coming to sell
If you can only move in January (which I strongly doubt unless you are both serving military and out of the country) then you could always exchange as soon as you can and complete in January. Or you could take a days holiday to move and ask family/ friends pay for packing as well as moving and just get it done.
What is the reason you can't move until January? Even if you are teachers you will get half termI am a Mortgage Adviser

Hi guys,
Just an update on this.
We eventually moved a couple of days after I last posted. It went to within four hours before everything was done and dusted. The removal crew were outside the new house, while we were at the estate agents waiting.
We have since spoken to the buyers, and the knew absolutely nothing of what was going on. The conveyancer kept telling them everything was fine and dandy...
Thank you for all your advice and help, at a very stressful time.
It was very much appreciated
Life is now good
