New Radiators

Hi Members,
I have knoecked a wall and made a big Living Room about 26 sq metres with 2 french windows.
I want new radiators. However getting completely confused. Online calculator says I need atleast 2 radiators with BTU of 8000-8800
Just wondering where to put them really.
There are 2 large french windows facing the garden. So thinking of putting one vertical radiator between them.
Will it look ok to put a horizontal radiator on the opposite wall?
Does anyone have a vertical and one horizontal radiator?
Can anyone suggest some ideas?
Spoke to my builder who says one radiator is enough but getting a single radiator with at least 8000 BTU is going over £700.
Many Thanks.

Hi There
Radiators pretty much work on convection, drawing in air naturally to the bottom of the radiator, warming that air which rises, circulates across the room, cools, drops and the cycle begins again etc
Where you place your radiators is mostly your own choice. Some prefer under windows to warm any cool air there, others prefer using 'dead space' which is areas where furniture wouldn't normally be placed, just inside the doorway is popular.
Ultimately it's up to you. I would first consider where you will be placing furniture, bearing in mind any electrical sockets etc. eventually through elimination you will find your perfect spot.0 -
I'd put them at either ends to even out the heat, if you are gonna put one between the windows make sure it won't be covered by the curtainsI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thank you guys. So far it is one vertical to go between the two french windows and one horizontal right opposite it connected to an internal wall.
The issue is finding a good pair which are same in colour and style.0 -
