Advice please re: missing item

I won an auction on sunday 8th July, paid for it straight away. Postal service was 1st class recorded. Mailed the seller on weds to see if it had been sent (no communication from her at all), no reply, sent 2nd message on thursday to which she replied it had been sent (didn't say when even though I asked), she expected the postal strike had held it up (don't think so, had all my post that week even stuff posted on the weds), and that she had contacted the post office who told her it would be out for delivery thurs or fri (this was at 5.45pm thurs!) and if not rec'd by sat to contact her again and she would chase it up.

Saturday - no item - mailed her in the morning and to let her know, also asked her for the tracking number so I could see if it had been delivered elsewhere (ie, I want to know if and when you sent it!), no reply.

Monday night, I opened a paypal cliam, I wouldn't normally at such an early stage, but her very poor communication makes me feel this could drag on and as I need the item but can't afford to buy another until I have this money back (or the item!), I needed to nip it in the bud early.

Anyway, my Q is, do I leave it as a claim or should I escalate? I have only ever had one item go missing and that was about 3yrs ago and I just can't think how it was done then. At what point (claim/escalate) will paypal refund if found in my favour? TIA

yes, she can't claim the money back from RM until 15 days, the reason I started the claim as I am doubtful that it has been posted as she will not provide me with a tracking number (has been active on ebay since I messaged her so she is ignoring the message)

still had no reply from seller, should I let things run or escalate? not sure which is the best chance of getting my money back.
  • Why dont you go into your ebay account and go into advanced search and get sellers details and ring her, if she doesn't have telephone number or anyway of contacting her then escelate your paypal claim if she hasn't replied to paypal questions you have snet regarding the item.
you can escelate when ever you like but if you do it too ealry paypal will think you are just on the make but if she hasw not responded within say 3 or 4 days then i would escalate..
Hope this helps a bit, good luck.
