single person discount

My daughter has just completed her BA at uni and is going on to do an MA in the autumn. As a lot of the course is independent study she will be living at home and just travelling into uni on the days she needs to be there, sometimes staying overnight with friends. This will be cheaper than paying rent in her uni town. I currently claim single person discount on my council tax - will I still be entitled to this?
Thanks for any advice

According to this:
https://www.gov.uk/council-tax/council-tax-exemptions
you would still be entitled to the single person's discount as your daughter is a full time student.0 -
You need to call your local council to confirm. It is usually if someone else is resident there (what resident means to them can vary so get it from them) then you lose the discount.0

You can continue to claim a 25% discount if she is a full time student if you are the only other adult. You need to provide her student details to the council once she become a student again.I currently claim single person discount on my council tax - will I still be entitled to this?I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Yes, you will still be entitled if she is a full time student. However you will not be eligible for the period before she starts the course.0

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't aware that I would not be eligible during the interim and haven't notified my council. I will speak to someone on tuesday0
