BEWARE THOMSONS! - They increase the price during booking process

  • Its "Bait and Switch"
There is no justification for it. Easyjet, Jet 2 and Ryanair can give you live prices, so why cant Thomsons ?

Yes, I believe it is and that's at the heart of my complaint.

I have decided to make a complaint to Trading Standards. In isolation, I don't suppose they will take any notice, but if eventually enough disgruntled customers make similar complaints - who knows?

Suggestions of anything else I could do would be welcomed.

Let's not start a conspiracy theory - it's really not a Bait and Switch, as sometimes the price drops. It's just how the data has been cached.

Still on my hunt for a holiday for myself, using the Thomson site last night, multiple searches and four I put into the booking flow. Two were the same price as the search, one increase £62 (two people) and one reduced £18. Data cache at work.

If you have ever used Skyscanner for a flight you often see that the prices of EZY or similar also differ if you check through to the airline. Again, data is cached.

There might be fewer cases of this happening on Easyjet, Jet2 etc but with respect, these are just simple transactions of one or two flight segments. A tour operator will be pulling in multiple data from several components and possible 3rd party sites to make up a packaged holiday price. That said, I've also seen the price on BA.com increase once going through the booking process.

Frustrating I know but let's not run away with a Bait and Switch conspiracy theory.
