ppi claim by ex

My ex had made a ppi claim and discovered that it was also in my name. So the company sent out a cheque to split between us... which my thick ex took to his bank to pay in. The cheque was made out to mr and Mrs X ...we are now divorced I am remarried. So the bank would not accept the cheque.
He phoned the ppi people and they said they would reissue separate cheques. This was now about 2 months ago.
Ive waited patiently. But still no sign. My ex hasnt replied to any of my recent texts asking if he has heard anything.
I dont know what to do now. I dont know the name of the company he used either. Thought about starting a new claim myself to see what happens.
Anyone got any advice please?
Thanks

Did he claim directly to the bank or through a ppi company? Either way, as a joint claim any forms would have required both signatures to even start a claim!0

Write to whoever the claim was against and ask.
Remember too that any claims company has no valid call on you to pay any of its fees and you should therefore keep your half entirely.0 -
Was the intention in doing that to deprive you of your share? If so, then it's very likely that your ex has fraudulently signed the letter of authority required from both signatories on a joint complaint. My ex had made a ppi claim and discovered that it was also in my name. No point starting your own claim if the Bank have already paid the money to your ex! What you could do is write to the Bank explaining the circumstance and see what they say.Thought about starting a new claim myself to see what happens.
Do note that you are not liable for any Claims Company costs as you did not employ them. You should therefore resist any attempt by your ex to extort any such payment from you.0 -
If there are two cheques then the one to the OP should be traceable.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Was the intention in doing that to deprive you of your share? If so, then it's very likely that your ex has fraudulently signed the letter of authority required from both signatories on a joint complaint.
If the bank has incorrectly paid the entire amount to the ex then the OP would seem to have valid grounds for complaint about that independently of the original dispute. That could then go to FOS in due course. No point starting your own claim if the Bank have already paid the money to your ex!
