Thanks for the info - I just don't see these "stats" at all.
There really is nothing obvious and I've got down on my hands and knees and looked all around.
I guess they are under those grey box covers somewhere.

Yes - I know how to work the iboost and we have solaredge monitoring for the PV so I can see daily generation.
Unfortunately generation has been very poor the last few days so can't draw any conclusions about turning the heating off in the morning.

The stat for the immersion will be under the cover thats says do not remove without turning the electrics off. My iboost is connected to the power via a switch so i just turned that off when i adjusted it. Do the whole house if your feeling nervous.

As for the cylinder one, thats very odd. Mine is a white box attached to the cylinder that has a dial the size of a 2pence piece.

Mine is too...normally they are positioned about a 1/4 - 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of the cylinder.

Is it under a cylinder jacket?:D

Wow, you're all being very helpful :T

    Let's see if this works.

The top RHS black & round is a relief valve.
Bottom RHS is a cold water valve.
The red thing is an in-line scale inhibitor.
The grey box at the bottom is indeed connected to the iboost on the LHS by the white cable - so if that's the control for the immersion then where is one for the cylinder.

I think the grey box next to the primary flow and return is the elements control housing.

    Have a peek here :D

Sorry to revive this old thread but just wanted to see what everyones opinions were on the optimum way to run the iboost during the coming darker months.

At the height of the summer i found that just the iboost alone was enough to give us the hot water we needed but now its getting a little dull its not quite cutting it.

I have set the Gas hot water to come on for an hour at 8pm. My theory is that if its sunny, the immersion will have heated the water during the day and the gas wont need to do much. Whereas if its dull the gas will top it up to a temperature that still allows me to have a hot shower the following morning.

How does everyone else have it set up at this time of year?

Same as others really. Immersion set to 80 with the gas boiler set to 45 as a top up to come on in early evening. We have a brand new unvented cylinder with minimal heat loss which really helps also. Sadly the boiler has been working now for the past week having been off since April. This is our first year having our system and our ImmersunII has saved us £40 in hot water heating during that time.

Not an amazing saving but its good to be doing something that decreases dependence on fossil fuels whilst saving money.
  • There might be a manufacturer helpline you could call, or maybe there's a manual you could download ?

Most thermostatic shower manufacturer's recommend that the DWH feed is set to a maximum of 65C, otherwise damage will occur to the wax thermostat.

Having read this, I have checked my Mira Event Ms shower notes. It does not appear to have a thermostat. But it does advise a maximum water storage temperature of 65 degrees.

The solar installer set my immersion to maximum. Will this mix with colder water below and average out at a lesser temperature, or will this setting compromise my power shower when solar is diverting many kWh to the immersion?

Not sure if your Mira shower is thermostatically controlled but if it is the HW will enter the thermostatic valve at the storage cylinder's temperature. It will definitely cause damage if set to maximum <85c. I had to replace the wax thermostat at ridiculous cost, now my immersion stat is set to 65c and it does reach 70c on occassions.
